CAIRO \u2013 A Church of
England priest has urged women to \u201csubmit\u201d to their husbands, raising
the ire of women as keeping with \u201cdark ages\u201d, reported the Guardian on
Saturday, February 13.<\/span> <\/p>\n

\u201cWives are to submit to their husbands in
everything in recognition of the fact that husbands are head of the
family as Christ is head of the church,\u201d reads a leaflet issued by
rector Angus MacLeay.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the way God has ordered their
relationships with each other and Christian marriage cannot function
well without it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

MacLeay, a member of the General Synod,
also urged women to keep \u201csilent\u201d when asked questions that could be
answered by their husbands.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt would seem that women should remain
silent \u2026 if questions could legitimately be answered by their husbands.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The comments were backed by MacLeay\u2019s
curate, who blamed the behavior of \u201cmodern\u201d women for the high divorce
rate in Britain.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
