That important telegram is also missing from the files<br \/>\nof the secretariat.\n<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/_XbJJ801AbSA\/SiI9d9Z0ruI\/AAAAAAAAGAY\/b4ZTyR7H-fU\/s400\/babri_masjid.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 1949 correspondence between chief secretary and authorities of<br \/>\nFaizabad includes different letters and a telegram of PM Jawaharlal<br \/>\nNehru to Chief Minister of UP that idols should be removed forthwith.<br \/>\nThe court has been seeking the documents since 2002 but the government<br \/>\nwas delaying. When the court became tough the chief secretary appeared<br \/>\nbefore the court in person last week. He told the court there was no<br \/>\nsuch file in the secretariat,\u201d Advocate Mushtaque Ahmed Siddiqui<br \/>\nlooking the case along with Advocate Zafaryab Jilani told<br \/>\nTwoCircles.net on phone from Lucknow. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the court asked chief secretary to submit the files comprising<br \/>\ncorrespondence between Faizabad DM and chief secretary, he came up with<br \/>\nthe files in which letters sent from Faizabad DM are intact but there<br \/>\nis no letter sent by chief secretary to the DM. The telegram of PM<br \/>\nNehru was also missing in the files,\u201d Advocate Mushtaque said. <\/p>\n<p>The court has taken in its possession the files presented by the<br \/>\nchief secretary and asked him to produce the telegram and the letters<br \/>\nsent by chief secretary to Faizabad DM on July 6. The court has gone on<br \/>\nvacation and first hearing will take place on July 6. <\/p>\n<p>The court has expressed its anguish on how the papers were destroyed when the case is open.<br \/>\nHow significant are the missing papers? \u201cThough the Babri Masjid is<br \/>\nestablished with other evidences, if court gets the government records<br \/>\nit will be weightier,\u201d the advocate said. <\/p>\n<p>Could there be some conspiracy to destroy or misplace the documents?<br \/>\n\u201cSome authorities below the chief secretary level want that those<br \/>\npapers do not reach the court. Their purpose could be just to delay the<br \/>\ncase,\u201d Advocate Mushtaque said. <\/p>\n<p>He, however, said the state government will be forced to find the<br \/>\npapers.
